WHAT ELSE CAN I DO WITH RIBBON ?
1. Slim ribbons can add a simple stripe of colour and texture to otherwise uninteresting areas – just attach with double sided tape. Why not try weaving several pieces together for an unusual corner feature.
2. Wired ribbons can be used as is or pull the wires out for softer effects. Why not try sewing the ribbon in place to underline a title block.
3. Thread bunches of slim ribbons through tags or wrap around the edge of a frame. Alternatively, why not use singly to sew papers together or to attach photo mats and embellishments to your layouts.
4. How about wrapping slide mounts with ribbon for added texture. Alternatively, add a stripe to one side only, attaching with double sided tape.
5. Thread circle clips with one or more ribbons to create a mini buckle. Why not use a thicker ribbon, attached with double sided tape to create a collar or belt affect. Use a slide mount for the buckle, place off centre and add several eyelets to represent the holes.
6. Arrange three or more slide mount framed images over a length of ribbon with a bow at the top to look like a string of Victorian picture frames.
7. Stick a pleated length of ribbon around the edge of a cardstock circle (at the back) to make a rosette. Add a couple of tails, trimmed at an angle to complete the effect.
8. Use a small running stitch to gather along one edge of a length of ribbon and pull tight to make a ‘flower’. Attach singly or in clusters with a brad at the centre as an alternative to bought fabric flowers. Experiment with different widths and fabrics to find your favourite.
