WHAT CAN I DO WITH FRAMES ?
1. Use die cut frames to accentuate small photographs, frame an embellishment or to make shaker boxes. Don’t forget to use the centre tiles – perfect for mounting small embellishments or layered at one corner of a title block or photograph.
2. Cover slide mounts with papers, ink or paint to co-ordinate with your layout. How about wrapping with fibres or ribbon for added texture.
3. Use circle clips and other slip-on embellishments over the corner of a slide mount.
4. Use rub ons to decorate slide frames with words and images. If you have trouble keeping letters straight, then place them deliberately at odd angles! Apply directly to plastic or cardstock frames. Alternatively alter with paper or ink first.
5. Alter frames by applying a layer of liquid beads for colour and texture. Alternatively, wrap a corner with several lengths of embroidery thread in toning or contrasting colours and string clusters of beads to hang freely.
6. Use jumbo frames (by Hot Off The Press) to make mini books. Leave the pair of frames attached at the hinge and cover both sides with paper, leaving the front aperture visible. Decorate the front with an image, photo or text inside the aperture and embellish as required. Add a number of concertina pages to the inside back cover and add a pull tab to the top one. Wrap a length of ribbon around the mini book and tie a bow to close when not in use.
7. Mat three or more slide frames on to patterned paper so that the images show through the aperture. Arrange them over a length of ribbon with a bow at the top to look like a string of Victorian picture frames.
8. Use a covered slide mount, attached with foam tape to frame a single image from patterned paper. Use as a focal point on a card or layout and finish off with a bow at the bottom right corner.
