About Us
Beverley Todd, owner of Crop ‘Til You Drop, has always been a crafter. While her children, now in their teens, were little the focus was largely on knitting jumpers and making toys for them, later selling a few items to help stretch the family budget. After reading Law at university, she began working as a freelance writer and tutor at Adult Education, teaching a range of subjects including creative writing and crafts. In 2003 Beverley had her first craft articles published in Crafts For Children magazine and reawakened her passion for making things. These early articles soon progressed to regular work on titles including Popular Crafts, Making Cards, and 12 x 12 Scrap booking but she often had trouble sourcing the perfect product and wasted hours trawling the internet in search of craft goodies.
In 2004 the birth of her fourth son prompted her to leave Adult Education and concentrate more on the craft writing side of her work. Soon she began to miss teaching, which led to the start of a monthly scrap booking class at Dartford Central library. In February 2005 Beverley spotted an empty shop and realised that this would give her both the space necessary to teach many more craft classes and might also be the answer to her often fruitless search for the products she wanted. Sure that other crafters would want the same things, and with the support of her family, Crop ‘Til You Drop was born on March 18, 2005.
The response from other crafters was positive and before long, people were coming from all over the county and beyond. Crop ‘Til You Drop is more than a shop, providing old fashioned service and customer care: run by and for crafters. An e-mail weekly bulletin soon followed but our customers deserved more: a website where they could view and buy products, get inspiration from our projects, find out about classes, check out our latest offers and give us their views and comments.
We hope our existing customers will find this site a useful resource and that newcomers will be tempted to come and share in the Crop ‘Til You Drop experience.
The Elusive And Mysterious Soul: Yabb Administrator
Possibly the Gandalf of the craft world and the technical genius behind every page on the ILHOTP and CTYD website. A soul so mysterious that it requires anonymous gender and is known only to a select few by an actual name. Yabb would be HOTP's number one fan had I not already taken the title. Without Yabb, this site would be a much more modest affair.
